Official Records and Custody Contacts
The Hampshire County Sheriff’s Office is the main county contact when a person may be held at the Hampshire County Jail and House of Correction or when a county booking record or photograph is sought. The office publishes two different official main numbers. The HSO directory also lists a specific Records Access Officer. Confirm the right line before making a time-sensitive request.

For a focused booking-record or booking-photo request, contact Thomas Mitchell, HSO Public Information/Records Access Officer, at (413) 582-7721 or Thomas.Mitchell@hsd.state.ma.us. These routes serve different questions:
- Use the home records hub for the county booking path, public-record request steps, and the absence of an online HSO roster.
- Use Sheriff's Most Wanted for official warrant-check and wanted-source guidance, not for post-release supervision.
- Check the originating town’s arrest log for a recent local arrest, then ask HSO whether county custody was accepted.
- Ask HSO directly about current custody or release; no public county roster or release-alert app was found.
- Use Amherst, Northampton, or South Hadley police records contacts for the originating municipal arrest report.
- Use the Massachusetts Department of Correction and VINELink for a person sentenced to state prison, not for a county jail booking.
- Use the federal Bureau of Prisons locator or ICE detainee locator only for the matching federal or immigration custody system.
